In a letter to new Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, Atishi from Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) pointed out the BJP's failure on an important promise made during the election time. Atishi won in Kalkaji this recent election and highlighted that the BJP had said they would give women financial support of Rs 2,500 each month right after their first cabinet meeting. But even after holding this meeting on February 20, no scheme became active which left many women feeling misled, as stated by Atishi.
She asked Chief Minister Gupta to have a talk with an AAP group on Sunday about how to start the Rs 2,500 aid plan which was heavily promoted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during elections. Furthermore, she raised doubts about whether this was just a trick for votes and showed sadness over disappointing women voters from Delhi. She also mentioned that both Modi and BJP president JP Nadda assured people that money would reach qualified women's bank accounts by March 8 but nothing has occurred yet.
Helping women financially was a key promise during these elections as both AAP and BJP tried hard to win female voters’ support. After elections where BJP won, Atishi and her party kept urging the new government to stay true to its commitments. She also downplayed BJP's effort discussing 14 CAG reports calling it normal business while stressing again that they must keep their promises made during campaigning for women of Delhi.
